Insurance for mobility scooters or wheelchairs is not legally required, but it is highly recommended. Insurance can offer you peace of mind by protecting against potential damages, theft, and liability in case of accidents that may cause injury to others or their property.
While public liability insurance isn’t mandatory, it’s advisable as it covers costs if you’re found responsible for causing damage or injury. Some policies also offer coverage for personal accidents, repairs, and replacements.
The need for insurance can also vary based on whether you use your mobility device on private property or public roads. Additionally, if you travel, insurance can cover damages or losses incurred during your trip. Checking with local authorities or insurance providers for specific requirements and options available in your area is a good idea to ensure you have appropriate coverage.
